Either way it seems to be running as good as always now, hell, even pulled car lengths on an M2 last night!

Sounds like the waste gate was just adapting.

Hi george.

Two weeks ago you wrote that the new maps were going to be aviable.
I don't know why you never posted the new maps and the final firmware.
Please help.
Thanks

He post MAP2+ settings which has been tested with several users(Also me) in last 3 months which can be used in MAP6 settings...

We have been testing the new version of software on around 30 cars and all seems to be good. Would be nice to get a bigger pool now.

Firmware version is 60/85//5

Changes are as follows:

Map 3 Peak boost 6psi
Map 4 Peak boost 6psi 7speed DSG specific, it has a taper at higher rpm so will also work well for guys on 93 in hot climates
Map 5 Absolute map peaking 25 tapers to 20psi. E30 with bolt ons needed
Map 8 Safety Valet map

Other improvements are on idle and boost onset.
OBD disconnected yield 0 boost add.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks George

If I have a car with DSG7 ... should I use map 4?

antsh 07-11-2019 09:37 AM

Thanks as always, George. Map 5 safe for 100 octane (with intake and **), or is E30 needed?

Rrunner 07-11-2019 10:31 AM

Map6

George,
Will this new firmware make any difference to a custom map6 running.
Thanks

Most 7 Speed cars have got a issue when using launch control. Specifically the R and S3. If you not having issues no need to use it.

It should be ok, read your logs though to be sure.

Yes, there is improvements on spool up and idle smoothness.

_Dejan_ 07-11-2019 02:17 PM

George is test firmware with name JB4_EA888_8_4_T5.hex same as today released firmware JB4_EA888_8_5.hex ? Or is there also some changes between them?

The new maps where not on T5.

antsh 07-11-2019 09:08 PM

Any updates on the code reading issues, George?

Thanks for that info. Does this mean also that T5 firmware in case of issues fail safe will not switch to map 8 but it will switch to old map 4 ?

I will today flash my JB4 with new fw...

It will go to map 8.

Thanks for reply.
I have another questions.
Is stacking JB4 over flash tune still same on latest firmware as has been before? So we use settings from image from 2. post in this thread, select map6 and JB4 will not do anything? Or is selecting map0 better option to avoid any issue for tunner(car will get custom map)?

Thanks again for your time and help.

Same applies for stacking but past few version map 0 is the pass through map with logging ability if you want to log the car with the flash only or stock it the ECU hasn't been flashed.

Hi George,

I’m still using Map 1 and the firmware from 11 December 2018 on my car. Still no hardware done and no issues using LC on DSG7 either up here at the Reef, or at the coast for that matter. I know that you told me that Map 2 is possible without hardware but only with a fuel mix - never tried Map 2 out though. What Map should I use for the most power on 95 pump fuel with this latest firmware and is it true that boost has been hiked up from +4.5 psi to +6 psi now? Do I now use Map 1, Map 2, or Map 4 after downloading this latest firmware, as per some of the previous comments?

andrew626 07-12-2019 09:09 AM

Hi george,

thanks for the new maps!!

For cars with only 91 octane aviable and DSG, which new map can we use 3 or 4?
thanks.

I would start with map 1 and post a log, or send it to George. I don't think you'll be able to hold the higher boost up top with 91, especially in warmer weather.

Map 2 and up is intended for 98Ron or higher. Unfortunately the range with 95 is very limited.

Thanks George. Are you targeting more boost in Map 1 with this new firmware as well (+6psi up from +4.5psi, or is Map 1 still exactly the same as in the December update?)

Map 1 is unchanged. 4psi peak add.

Thanks George. You know what - is that DSG7 LC misfire that everyone is talking about, that crackling/popping/misfire of sorts that happens when LC is engaged and only under part throttle? Iíve always thought that it was normal and that it was some form of anti-lag? It goes away if you apply full throttle and hold it against the soft limiter for a short while before launching. Should I be concerned and do I need to get that fix you mentioned for these 7-speed cars some posts back? Use another map perhaps? Iím based up at the Reef and once the car launches, it does so cleanly and without any fuss or drama.

No, the issue is when using LC and just after the gearshift there is a pause, hesitation type and then pull the rest of the gear normal. This happens in all the gears but only when using LC as it shifts to a different map on the ECU.

Thanks. No problem like that at all George. My car pulls cleanly through all the gears post launch. 👍🏽

To clarify, the "new" Map4 which is 7spd specific, can also be used on the 6spd DSG cars without issues as it merely tapers boost and would be fine for cars in hot climates?

Or did I misread that completely?

Yes, it can be used on any car. 93 is recommended.

Hello,

They are too high? I have in the 4th gear 27 psi that is the problem of what you speak?

They talk in Map 5 from 25 to 20 psi. The log is otherwise clean. In 3rd gear is a littlebit timing reduce from 1,8 degreese. This was are the 1rst full pull with the new firmware, I think the ecu adapting this at the next pull and there are clean.

Best regards

Best to update. The original where flat lining 27psi demand. New version is sorted now.

Hello George,

I just tried map 4 of the new firmware in my leon cupra 2019.

The car feels a little faster than in map2

Can I use it with 98 octane gasoline with stock exhaust system?
