We doing some evaluation now on stacked cars and should put it up soon.

I’ve got it and I love it. It’s wet and cold outside so can’t do any launches but still managed a 0-60 in 4.2 spinning like hell and short shifting to second at about 15mph to get som grip.

But 60-130 I managed in 11.1s, and with some further tuning with George hopefully I will be able to do a high 10s run later.

And decreasing boost on flashed ecu would be great! 👍🏼👌

Just installed the JB4 and updated to latest 5A FW on my 2018R.

Just checking, based on the info here should I be seeing the oil temp and DSG transmission temp with this update? Neither are working on the gauge display in the app.
Also, the gear display is super nice when in D or S mode (it’s already on the digital dash in M mode) but it would be even better if it showed the 7th gear. Since the car is obviously outputting the data (it shows 7 on the dash) hopefully this can be accomplished?

Hi,

The oil temp and transmission temp is not supported on the VW JB4's .
We will be adding 7th gear down the line. It should have displayed assuming the data goes +1 each gear but it seems the ECU output is different for 7th so we going to have to hunt that down.

I know I read elsewhere that you wanted to keep some channels open for future use and to keep the sampling rate high. FWIW however, those two items (more so oil temp than trans though) are only accessible via OBD data for the car. Since the JB4 is using that port, with no ability to split the signal to another gauge, the app is the only option for that info. It wouod be very useful to have those parameters for track work.
I hope you can find a way to add them in the future.

Is the oil temp not available in the in cluster display on your car?

Will look at the trans. We adding WGDC next cause many people will need that to trouble shoot leaks as the cars are getting older.

Awesome, thanks. Yes, oil temp is avail in the cluster display, however it 'takes over' the whole display with that one line of info, it's a massive waste of the digital dash when it could be right on the tablet screen with the other gauges. But you're correct, it can be done.

I think it's nice to have jb4 available in oiltemp, even available in a cluster in the car, too ... the more information you have in the datalog, the better ... if you also have external temp input, it would be nice too, to compare day logs warmer or colder ...

also being available oiltemp, to make the question of boost protection by oil temperature, not water, would be safer ...

Is this latest firmware also compatible with the JB4 for a Gen3 Jetta GL2014?. I know the Gen3 motors for the Jetta and GTI are different.

One time George told me it's the same,
Just set Future Use D to 1, as this engine works differently.

Its compatible to all the Gen3 motors. 5A_3 is the latest version now.

Hi, anyone having issues with the 5A firmware popping an EPC when you try to connect to the unit while the car is running? Using iOS app with rev3 bluetooth module.

Its going to take some time for that. We not to push out S4 and RS3 units next before we look at that further. Its on the list of things to do though.
