JB4 firmware update fails

Hi, new JB4 user here so please let me know if I'm doing something stupid. Fitted yesterday to my 2004 Golf R, took the car for a run to clear all of the error codes and all was fine, so I decided to update the JB4 to the latest firmware, and it failed at 238 of 311, it tried 5 times before giving up, each time the same error "Error uploading". I was using the mobile app from android via bluetooth, so this morning I swapped in the usb lead and tried from a win10 laptop, and it got stuck in a never ending loop of failing at 238 of 331, I tried JB4_VW_8_4 and VW_JB4_OBDII_8_T3. I've searched the forum but can't find anyone else with the same error. Unfortunately the screenshot I took when connected that showed a firmware version number hasn't saved :( I've had to strip out the JB4 as I need to use the car and connecting to it gave me the error that it didn't have any firmware and the car wouldn't run without any. Was wandering if anyone had seen this before and managed to fix it?

The JB4 pcb silkscreen says G3 v2.

Thanks for any replies.

The circuit board is for a JB1 so the firmware that is here should be loaded to it: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34711

Bother, clicked the wrong button at checkout, oh well, lets see what a JB1 can do. Many thanks for the quick reply, I'll refit next weekend and give it a go.

Drop me a email at george@burgertuning.com . There is a chance you will need to do a disaster recovery procedure if it wont let you connect.

Hi,

Go to user adjustments and make the Future use D value 1 and save. Lock the car so the JB4 can power down and data should start streaming.

Or a recommendation to try try for MAP 6 to achieve the same. Yay for California 91 gas.

As an aside, any chance for development of a meth system for the A4? I know the S4 guys are getting one. Everything should be the same (tank, lines, etc) except for the throttle body adapter.

No chance yet without jail breaking the phone and using carbridge app.

Did you lock the car for a while so the JB4 can power down for the FUD setting change to take affect. Is it easy to disconnect the Polar FIS as it could be causing issue with the OBD data stream. Best also to get hold of me via email for a quicker resolution. george@burgertuning.com

I have a 1.8 gen 3 6 speed auto, should I have the boost redux set to anything? Also I get some hesitation on the freeway at cruising speeds with low throttle input

We have never needed to use it.
Check to see what firmware version you have in the user adjustment page and post it here.

Probably they have reason to hold update...
I use latest fw and work ok(smooth and powerfull) I hope that new fw will bring some new fetaures(like oil/trans temperature in logs)...

I'm running a JB4 and looking into a catted ********. I have to pass emissions in my state yearly. Luckily, I just did, so I've got a whole year before next inspection.

What I'm wondering is what to expect from the ******** with the JB4. I'm not concerned about overboosting since the JB4 has the boost safety value. I don't want to stare at a CEL all the time though, assuming that the spacer doesn't work (I've read mixed results). I know you can use Future Use D at 90 and it'll clear the code, but I'm concerned about it clearing codes I may want to be aware of. Then again, if the CEL is just on all the time and I assume it's the ********, it could also be something else I should be aware of that I mistake for the ********.

Wanting to pick one up soon, but was hoping someone could weigh in on this for me. What are my options? Thanks in advance.
