FWIW the last few shipments of tuners we've been including the latest SENT software. I've yet to trigger the IAT fault on our development car over the last few weeks with it. So hopefully, that's one bug down. :)

Its advised to stay below E35 at this point. I doubt the fuel system will manage neat E85.

Thatís what I figured.

Just to make sure before I do this. The car has a 15.3 tank if you mix 10.2 gallons of 93 and 5.1 gallons of E85 you will have E35 at 97% octane. Which will be safe to run as long as you go into settings and switch to ethanol kit; correct? :burnrubber:

Sounds right. On the JB4 you don't need to set anything. Just make sure the fuel plug is connected. All maps can be used with a ethanol mix as the Fuel open loop setting is global.

Didn’t throw any codes for a while. Launched the car on map 5 the other day and the Christmas tree came on at let off. First time in a few weeks.
Took a road trip to the packer game yesterday and when I was just cruising on my way back the drive system malfunction came on. First time that’s happened since week one I believe. Was on map 3. Original SENT chip, latest firmware. I’ll definitely try the new SENT chip of you guys are still sending them out.

Nez136 11-12-2018 08:11 AM

Also just curious as what the stock boost is on this car? I’m trying to gauge the target boost on each map and it seems a few guys are hitting 20+psi way more consistently than I am.

Email Terry for the chip.

Did you maybe get a screenshot of the faults?

Will do,
And I did not, when it was happening the first week or so it was always the same codes which ranged from
6E33
5E7E

Or 8A4D
8176
233F

Then my old code log showed a
2800 once in a while.

Typically the codes most consistently thrown have been 6E33 5E7E and 233F

I do have a AWE switch path with remote for the valves if that has anything to do with a few of those.

The first two could be exhaust value related and the others are indeed IAT so get the chip and lets see.

Hello, good evening and belated Happy Thanksgiving. I am new to the forum and the world of JB4. However, I will be testing the JB4 on my 2018 Audi B9 RS5. I have scheduled the installation tomorrow, but I wanted to perform my due diligence in some research prior to installation.

Firstly, I hope I am in the correct thread for a B9 RS5 installation?
If I am lost, could someone point me in the right direction of the installation guide?
The only seemingly appropriate installation guide I have found is: "https://www.n54tech.com/flash_files/audi_s4_install.pdf"

I plan on providing data, feedback and any other pertinent information tomorrow and as often as possible. Also, I will be scheduling baseline and post-JB4 dyno power curves in the coming weeks. Thank you BMS for allowing me to be a part of this JB4 R&D for the B9 RS5 and I hope my platform and I will be a useful and informative member to BMS and the JB4 community.

Thank you Terry. I will definitely do that if needed.

So, I just had the BMS JB4 installed on my 2018 B9 RS5, updated the firmware to [AUDI_JB4_SENT_T7.hex] and immediately tested on MAP#3. My "butt dyno" definitely noticed a significant difference in power!:wow:

I was able to drive approximately 20 miles from Audi North Orlando to home and noticed no codes, CELs or any other anomalies. Of course, I will update should anything arises during the course of daily driving and testing.

I did however experience intermittent app disconnects along with the app gauges freezing during logging. Is there something that I could be doing to trigger this or is this a known issue? I noticed the app froze and disconnected when I minimized the JB4 app, but I have not done it repeatedly yet to test if this is an always true case. I am currently running the JB4 Mobile on an iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 11.4.1.

I was able to record a few logs, but due to app disconnects, I am struggling to determine which were recorded under stock settings or under MAP#3. I have noticed a variation in boost ranging from 21-24 psi under WOT.

I was able to record what looks like a pull that allowed me to get to 4th gear and 120mph under WOT, but I am uncertain if this was stock or MAP#3. Based on the "butt dyno" it felt like a MAP#3 log. Thank you in advance for any assistance and insight.

There is more to see in the log than in the picture. Shoot the csv over by email and we can work on the connection issue etc as well via email.

Hi George. Thank you for the reply. Log file sent sir!

A user put up some results from his stock SQ5 on 93 and map 3. Even though he got a better launch on the stock (see G's) run it still shaved close to .5sec off the 0-60mph.

is it ready?

Hi Guys - Ive been following this thread for months. Want to drop the hammer and buy a JB4 to swap out for my DTUK box, but dont want to be waiting around for new chips / hardware changes or what not since I live outside the US.

I guess what I want to know is, is it ready? or still throwing engine faults frequently even after all the recent firmware updates and chip changes? I can live with continuous improvement via firmware updates, but dont want to be pulling the box apart to change out chips.

cheers.

Terry @ BMS 11-29-2018 07:19 PM

Has been good with the latest chipset, so you should be good to go now. :)

With the latest chip and firmware update, I haven't seen any faults. Swapping the chip out took about 4 minutes so I wouldn't worry about that either.

kanemari 11-29-2018 07:45 PM

too easy. order placed :happy

i am a bit of a novice at identifying the plugs in the engine bay though. is there a picture of the whole engine somewhere that has the approx location of each sensor? then the close up pics will probably make more sense.

Terry @ BMS 11-29-2018 08:00 PM

George can update the install guide with a zoomed out photo if there isn't one already, should be!

Hello everyone,

Now that I had a chance to use the JB4 on my 2018 SQ5 I have few questions that the community can help. I read this entire thread as well as some one the other sites and could use some more data or clarification.

Thanks in advance,

1. Will the drive mode both engine affects the performance with JB4? Would you get more power if you are running the same map in dynamic mode vs comfort.
2. Those the JB4 has any affect on shift points, would you have a quicker times if you run it in sports mode or manual vs drive.
3. Is using map 3 as a daily drive map not recommended, will that cause extra stress on engine components. ( I normally as other on this site used map 1. But today when driving to work 60 mph with ACC the instrument cluster shown 30 mpg 95% of the time for consumption. I know they are not that accurate but would you get better MPG in Map 3 and if so at what cost.
4. Anything else you change in your driving when running a JB4.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts or any links you can share to read more material on this subject. I’m admittedly new to tuners like the JB4.

The JB4 adds power over what the ECU is requesting so the gains will be comparable in all the modes. The ECU uses throttle numbing in modes like comfort and with the JB4 also using throttle position as one of the parameters adding it might add slightly less in that mode.
The power drops of at high rpm so in that case the gear selected wont matter but the shift speed logic is different between D and M/S so it will shift gears faster.
Whatever extra stress is caused in a higher map will be insignificant in the long run if you maintain good driving habits when cold starting the car. 90% the oil is still cold.
On the cruise control this varies and I haven't tested it on these models. What happens on some cars the ACC uses quite a bit of pedal and it might be going into boost and off boost aggressively to maintain speed. If you got a Bluetooth you can monitor what its doing boost wise and compare to when you actually cruising with ACC off and see if there is a variance.

If possible try get some pics of the OBD routing from inside please. We have a right hand drive RS3 and its slightly different.

Hey George,

Mine is also a RHD. Will get some pics of the OBD routing side & the whole installation process for you when we start installing on sat, I suppose the JB4 fuel sensorís connection is for the LPFP? For the 2017+ RS3 8V.2, is it above the intake manifold or Below which required to remove the manifold?

Thanks for all the great tips.

In final when you just cruising at 60 mph for extended period 30 min and you want to get the best mpg at that stage what map you think would have the best possible result?

All the maps should be equal assuming you at constant throttle and just on boost to maintain the speed.
