Vargas Turbo stage 1 questions

Looking at the stage 1 Vargas turbo for my 2011 N55 E series. Is this a direct bolt on and forget or do I need to adjust anything and get a tune? DO I need to upgrade fueling as well? I am not sure this is considered a big difference to the car. I have the JB4 with FF and ISO. Tired of the car falling flat at 5k rpm. I am just wanting some gains in the upper rpm range and want another 40 whp. Not much info on the stage 1 as most people go with stage 2. I looked so please dont tell me to search. Also I do not want the stage 2 turbo.

Why would you get a Vargas stage one and not a Pure Turbos stage one? I would do a little research on the companies and I don't see how you won't end up with a pure turbos stage one.

My VTT stage 1 actually made a little more power than PS1. And while doing test runs on upgraded Wastegate I ****ed something up and my car made less boost up top and I would still pull on PS1. There's also a video of vtt 1 beating a PS1 on youtube.. nontheless ps2 is the way to go

I am sure I can easily find videos that show the opposite as well. So let's assume performance is similar. The other thing to take into consideration, and probably is more important than performance, is the reputation and customer service of the company. The difference is clear IMO. That was the main point I was trying to make. If you notice, I do not mention anything about power in my prior post.

Be interesting to see some of your logs. If all you want is another 40bhp then, depending on where you currently are, the stock may be able to deliver this.

as far as i know all the stage 1s avaliable are just the compressor housing unit so you undo the stock one and slide the new one in to the exhaust side of the stock one... of course you will have upgraded turbines in it. so in short yes direct bolt on.

you dont need to worry about fueling unless you plan on going high E contents. also with stage 1's you can run the preloaded maps on your JB4 and if you want do a custom map for map 6.

i have had the stage one for awhile and if you are only looking for what you said it sounds like it will be a perfect match for you.

if you have any other questions just ask.

I am at 383/460 right now in my 2011 135i DCT. I have JB4 with FF on Map 5, Cobb Chrgepipe, VRSF cattless ******** and run 35-40% e85. I also put in NOS octane booster when I dynod. It was 70 degrees out and 70% humidity at sea level. She would die drastically after 5k rpm.

i know alot of people arent too huge of meth fans, but if you are looking for a little more. the BMS meth kit really woke up my PS1 :)

As you're DCT, you'll probably need a BEF to stop clutch slip (assuming your DME is MEVD172 and have a supported ROM)

It will depend on what you're looking to target and at what RPM. With the stock turbo, my DCT used to slip when going WOT at low to mid rpms in 4th through to 7th :( This was at 19/20psi at tip in tapering to 13/14 at max rpm.

Map 6 does give you some flexibility to dial this out but it would be a shame to not use the new unit to it's full potential.

I prefer pure as customer service is vastly vastly better, and pure doesn't try to over charge you when you were quoted a price.
Plus pure vsr balances the compressor wheel like BMW does to ensure quality is top knotch, whereas Vargas doesn't.

I have a PS1 on my car now. If you are taking the time to install don't bother with a stage 1, go straight to the Stage 2. Even if you just run the PS2 at the same psi you will make more power and you have to ability to crank it up later when you get bored. You will make more power on pump gas with the PS2 than you can make on E30 with the PS1.

+1,
If cost isn't prohibiting it's best to jump to pure stage 2.
