[Help Request] M4 base - JB4 Logs + Gamma DP/BMS Front Mounted Intake Install

Hi all,

For the G80 M4 base, I connected the JB4 and I have a few questions, maybe some advanced users could help. I am not using stock cats.

Here my logs with 91 Oct CA Gas:

Attached Log P46_M0_R24_211010_1515_mod_2.csv

I see the timing all over the place, even with Map 0, the quality of this fuel is awful... Still I would like to see if there is any red flag apparent in the logs, from what I see, they look OK for this fuel.

Then tried with E30 and Map4 and Map3 (sorry I logged in that order):

Attached Log P46_M4_R2_211011_0954.csv

To me, the timing looks good, way better than with 91, but there are a few things that concerns me:

1 - There is a big gap between boost and boost2 (21 psi vs 14 psi). Is this expected with this long front mounted intakes? If the pressure at the Manifold is 21 psi, then is good? should I be concerned? Maybe I installed the Intake incorrectly?

2 - Even though the timing looks good, on the Supra the 6 cylinders were exactly at the same angle during the pull, but here I see differences of 1 or 1.5 , granted, the Supra has Ecutek custom flash tune, so, are these differences something expected from a piggyback?

3 - The throttle ramps up to 102 at the beginning of the pull, then it closes to 42 for the rest of the pull. I have MDM and I didn't spin, so I don't think it's related to TC, is this normal since I am getting the 21 psi?

4 - According to JB4, Map 4 was absolute 24 psi, but the target is 22 psi, so JB4 is holding back for some reason?

Thanks for the help, I am new to piggy backs and want to make sure the Intake was installed properly, I have a hunch that maybe one of the chargepipes is loosely connected.

Ideally you want a sustained full throttle pull with shifts, like 40-100mph, on a safe private track, for example.

Runs seem pretty normal for 91 octane gas which is very low octane. Expect plenty of timing corrections with it stock and tuned on 91.

psi2 is lower than psi due to throttle position, which seems pretty low. Do the next set of logs in comfort mode for comparison.

Hello Terry, thanks for replying.

I'll have time this weekend to test properly. Currently I am just doing 3rd gear pulls from 3500 to 6500. The E blend is approx. E30. Ran map 2 this time in sport and comfort.

I think I know what's going on, there is a peak boost around 3200 rpm, then throttle closure, after that boost stabilize and eventually throttle opens again. In sport+ the boost surge happens faster than in comfort mode. In comfort mode happens the same, but the peak boost is lower, so it opens the throttle sooner.

Attached the logs. Any clue on why this would be happening? The lack of cats may be a factor, like spools faster than the ECU expects?

Thanks once again.

Looks better in comfort. Not sure what the issue is with Sport+, might be an ECU software bug they left in there or related to your exhaust mods. Neither mode should have any dramatic boost targeting difference. On our development M4C (and X3M & X4M) both modes behave the same. :shrug

In any event leave it in comfort for now. Update to v7 firmware in the app, and log map4 next.
