Question about turbo pressure

I have been driving my e60 535i without air filter installed for some time now. The engine now throws 'not enough pressure' code and puts itself into a limp mode. My mechanic insists on removing the turbos to check the blades condition. But, as you can see the pressure seems to be normal (it goes up to 90kpa which is almost 1 bar). The acustic sound actually telling me its gone into limp mode. No vaccuum leaks however. Any suggestion would be aplreciated.Thanks.

Why on earth would you run with no filter ... ? That's asking for catatrosphic failure, not just turbos but engine too.
Before you let your mechanic charge you to remove turbos (expensive), a simple boroscope might work to identify any damage to blades.
what is the exact code you get? 30FF?

Put your air filter back on!

Thanks! I guess I cant avoid removing them since boroscope inspection does not show any obvious damages. The car feels ugly now especially on highways and potentially unsafe whenever instant torque is needed. Worst thing that could happened :(

But seriously, why would you not run an air filter?

Long story short, the last one got damaged in water while it was layng around.(Got the lower pressure sensor swapped which lasted 3 days). It turned out no dealer around the area got the replacement on hand. 2 days were enough for killing them thoough.
