Default 535 E85 Dyno Testing, 146rw delta - 02-12-2013, 06:12 PM

Hey guys,

Had a chance to do a before/after dyno comparison on a 535 N54 today. He's running the BMS DCI, a custom catback system, and a $100 inline fuel pump. Factory downpipes, IC, etc.

To start we ran 91 octane bone stock. Then we added the JB4 G5 ISO, BMS Flash, and 60% E85. Did a few adaption runs on map 5 which peaked out around 410rw. Then we kicked it over to map 7 and pushed it up a bit further. For kicks I dialed boost up a bit further using map 6 and picked up a bit more power, but he had an orignal plug in #6 (had only replaced 1-5) which would misfire at high RPM so we left boost lower at redline.

Up next I understand he will be adding downpipes and we'll retest to see the gains.

Impressive numbers and I just wasted half a tank of gas after installing dci and jb4.

All I can say is I love the power, I need e 85 now.

Oh heck yeah...but can't see the image...I really want those map 6 settings (throughout the rpm range)

Who only replaces 5 spark plugs

Edit: must be on my end, can't see em on other posts either. Nice work though and great results!

Seems like anyone who installs the JB4 G5 ISO and BMS Flash could expect to do comparable numbers, considering the only other hard mods were the fuel pump adding next to nothing on this car, and the catback contributing a few horsepower. yes there's a million factors like dyno, weather, etc etc.

E85 is N54 crack - this dyno makes me wonder what the car would feel like if i took it up to 60% E85. Since the first time I used it, I haven't gone a tank without it.

Too lazy to read it. But looking at the first sentence a delta of 120rw+ is easily doable with E85 and tuning!

Quick question in regards to the E85 % you're running. What AFR are you targeting? I know that with the higher percentage of Ethanol the DME leans out the AFR and can run higher numbers due to the cooler EGTs and less potential for knock.

Or you could just post logs

Pertinent to the ability to duplicate these numbers - as they mostly hinge on the E85 ratio -

Is the E85 fuel used for the dyno runs understood to be watered-down "mininum 70% ethanol" like the E85 around here, or is it real E85 (85% ethanol)? Just wondering if your 60% would be more like 70% with the "minimum 70% ethanol" E85.

As T noted, new plugs are installed, #6 was not, cuz of bad plug and I am waiting for the replacement.

More power will come, TRUST Me, many plans to come

Great numbers.

I just replaced all of the plugs with the NGK iridiums, based on feedback I saw on this forum. They seem great so far.

I'm also looking to upgrade the fuel pump and BMS flash in the next two weeks. Getting lean codes with just a 40%'ish e85 blend, so thought it was time to tweak some more!

Is your goal to run 100% e85? I'm currently running meth, but was wondering if I can get rid of that and just run straight e85. I'm just too lazy to mix the 50/50 meth/water batch all the time.

I currently have stock snails, but want to upgrade to RBs in the future. Which begs another question about getting rid of the meth. Can I hold 20psi on straight e85? I guess time will tell, but I'd hate to unwind the meth kit and sell it only to find it has to go back in to get value from the RBs.

Those are some impressive 535 numbers!!

Looks like I need to get on the ball and upgrade my JB3 to a JB4 G5 and look into the BMS Flash.

Yes

Before, I was maxing out with 40-50%, with stock pump
Now I run without any issues 70-80%, with AEM 320 inline pump
