Hey guys,

Thanks to a generous customer I was able to borrow a 2009 750i N63 to play around with a bit. This is the same motor used in the 550i, which (as I understand it) is a detuned version of the same motor used in the new M5.

They advertise it at around 445hp so I was curious to see what it would put down on a dynojet. Best run was 387whp and 448whp. Not too shabby.

While I had it here I did a little tuning via an N63 Stage1 tune I designed for it. It's a very mild and easy to install tune, going for the easy horsepower with it. If it catches on we'll explore higher stages. But just with around 2psi more than stock using the Stage1 tune we were able to get power up to 412whp / 482wtq.

This car is huge and on the road the extra power is noticeable. Hopefully we can get a new 550i in soon for some dyno testing.

Very nice. Looks pretty strong. Im sure if you post this up in the proper places the N63 guys will be all over this! Looks to be pretty on par with Dinan too, 500 and 580 on stage 2 tune with Dinan. 15% loss is about right at your numbers.

That year N63 was rated at 400HP (450TQ) from BMW. So the numbers are even more impressive!

This is awesome! I think in the past the only tunes available for the 750's were Dinan which is so expensive... I'm sure you would get a bunch of interest if a tune was released

It's a great engine with a lot of potential. Instant torque everywhere. I only wish it was in a lighter weight platform like a 1 series or M3. This 750 is a tank.

I think about a thousound other people had the same exact idea when BMW announced that they were using a twin turbo V8 instead of a NA V8.....

I think you may not be aware of discussions between Terry and I regarding this platform and BMS that took place.

Yup, the new ones have been bumped up from 400hp/450tq to 445hp/480tq straight from the factory.

I know a guy who used to have a tuned 335i, now he has a 400hp 550i....Or do you mean you want to look at the 2013 445hp version?

Looking for someone with the 445hp version so I can dyno test it, measure the boost/advance/afr levels, etc, to ensure the tune works properly for it. Which I expect it will.

So is it just going to stay at Stage 1 or are you guys planning on adding more power and doing something more like a JB4 with steering wheel controls and whatnot? I might pick one of these up for my dad
