Default WG Rattles Help - 08-18-2017, 01:03 AM

It is a kid living in Korea.
My car is e92 335i.
It was produced in 2007.
A power reduction warning light is now generated at the West Gate Rattles.
I saw an example of a WG rattle modified with a spring and a hook in a DIY thread.
I tried the same way but the warning light still occurs.
The cylinder rod of the rear turbo was able to check the shaking, but the warning light was generated
It seems to be the WG rattle of the front turbo of boa.
I do not want to leave it to anyone. I wanted to solve it myself and found this place.
To remove the turbocharger alone
We were looking for a turbo removal image on YouTube.
However, the exact removal point was unknown. If you have any information on this, please share it.
You can call me a link.
Immediate advice is needed for the person removed.

I'm a Korean.
Because it is difficult to translate English, accurate grammar is needed.

I had horrible rattle on my 08 335i . I tried all the fixes and never really worked. I replaced the actuator for the waste gate and removed all the fixes and the rattle was gone. The actuator it self was extremely lose internally in my situation. I replaced the actuator without removing the turbo just left the bracket screwed on and just removed the actuator. It was a pain in my ass but well worth not having any more rattle

Didn't you remove the turbo?
Was the actuator approved only?
Did you approach the vehicle?

No I did not have to remove the turbo. I had down ***** off to heat wrap and change out my vacuum lines. The bracket stays screws into the turbo and I had to remove the lock screw and end connector from the actuator or it won't come out of the bracket.

It was not a pleasure doing but I got it done in a reasonable amount of time slowed down by sweltering heat and masquitos.

I know my bushing is worn because it has play but my old actuator was loose and made a rattle noise when I had it removed and in my hand. The new one was firm and spring resistance and pull had a noticable difference. Even checking your rod while it's still on the turbo with flapper connected tension should be felt if it's extremely loose it has seen better days.

For reassemble I had rod pulled into actuator with a handheld vacuum pump and adjusted the fitting two turn past the boss for the flapper.
All my over and under boost codes went away .

Having 1/4" drive short ratchet with 72 teeth or better and some swivel extensions are a must to get the three screws from the actuator removed .

The front turbo is impossible to get to with the turbo in the car.
the manual fixes can usually be done to the rear turbo/WG, but to do anything with the front turbo/WG you almost always have to remove the front turbo from the car.
And then at that point, with the turbo out, you might as well replace turbos with new ones.

Good to know, thanks - Wasn't familiar with washer method. Can see how that's more doable, and is necessary b/c front WG rod is hard to reach.
