Default Anyone in Colorado??? - 01-17-2009, 11:19 AM

Just wondering if there are any 135, 335, 535 enthusiasts in CO. It seems like most of us are from CA, TX, FL, etc., but I haven't seen anyone else from Colorado besides myself.

Hey there racey. What mods if any have you done to your car so far? Which dealership did you purchase your car from?

I have been running JB1 since it came out, as well as the Logic HVI. The only other mods I have done are a couple cosmetic mods (M3 trunk lip, black lower grilles, tint). I will be getting some new wheels this spring though.

Bought it from Murray.

You wouldn't have happened to be downtown today? I was behind a Montego debaged E92 335 on Park Ave.

And yeah, about the only way you can find an "i" up here is if someone ordered it like I did.

I also bought my 335xi from Murray (Meddie Moe was the salesman). I currently have the JB3 1.22, BMS DCI, and just ordered 18" CSL's staggered on 265/35 rears and 235/40 front wrapped in Yokohama S Drives. I was not downtown today although I usually am. My lease is due March 2010 and am already thinking of what to order in December. I think I may get the 335i. Do you drive yours in the snow? If so, do you have winter tires? How does it do?

Nice mods! I bought mine from Ben Uher up at Murray, really good guy to deal with. I have been pretty happy with just the JB1, so I am not sure I will be upgrading anytime soon. Also I bought the car and plan to keep it for a while, so reliability becomes more of an issue for me. I am also thinking of going with CSLs, probably 19s though and hyperblack...and looking at the Falken FK452s for tires.

What do you think of the High Altitude map for the JB3 vs Map 3? A buddy of mine got the JB3, and just popped in the 1.22 chip. We were driving around and messing with the different maps.

I have a '94 530i that I have snow tires on for my winter beater. The 335i will do just fine in the snow with a proper set of dedicated snow tires...I just choose not to drive it in the snow so I just leave the summer tires on all year.

I honestly have not really drivin on the High Altitude Map very much. I am using map 4 per Terry's recommendation. He said map 5 and 6 may be too much for our altitude. I definately notice boost taper at high rpm because the turbo's can only spool up so much air at this altitude. Is your buddies car a xi or i? How much of a difference was it from your JB1 and his JB3? I recommend you go with the 19's. I didn't because my car is not lowered and non lowered xi's looks even worst on 19's IMO. It's bad enough with 17's.

He has a 135 with JB3 1.22 only, no other mods. Probably best for him to stick with Map 2 for now until he gets some supporting mods. It was hard to tell the difference, what I really want to do is take a couple runs with him and mine next to each other and see what his can do.

Besides the JB3, he has a weight advantage. I just received a call today from performance wheel and tire and said that the Yokohama S Drive's that I ordered from them are back ordered for 8-12 weeks. I then did more research about the Toyo T1R's and the Falken 452's and almost everyone seems to love the FK452's. I am going to order them tomorrow from performance wheel and tire. I bought my wheels from modbargains.com. When you are ready to order tires, let me know and I'll ask my salesman from performance wheel and tire to hook you up. Do you get much wheel spin with the JB1? My friend with an auto stock 335i gets a little wheel spin at higher RPM's in 1st gear. I have absolutely none with my Blizzaks....obviously with the xi.

I will definitely hit you up when I am ready to purchase tires, thanks for the offer. I know Performance, pretty good place for tires.

I can get pretty good wheel spin through first, and a little bit into 2nd if I brake boost. I think that's the reason I like RWD so much, because when I want to have a little tail out fun, its pretty easy to do.

I would love to have RWD on the dry twisty mountain roads. A fish tail action is what the doctor prescribes. Unfortunately since this is my everyday car and I snowboard at least once a week, I need the xi...I think. Although I do like how the car grabs while accelerating out of the corner.

I'm trying to round up a bunch of people before late spring to do a 135, 335, 535 meet and mountain drive. My friend who has a 335i also has a RX-8. One summer I went with him on a RX-8 meet and mountain drive and there was at least 20 RX-8's tearing up the hills!

raceyBMW, were you driving southbound on Colorado Blvd today at noon? Does the top of your windshield say BMW?

Nope, that wasn't me. I usually don't even take the 3 out in the winter, but the water pump/fan clutch went out on my winter beater (my '94 5-series) and I am in the process of replacing them.

Have been driving the 3 all week...gotta say not the smartest thing to do the other day when it snowed...with the summer tires on might as well just have sled tracks on in the snow, its that bad.

Hey Forza1976. Glad to hear that there are other 335ers out here in CO. Just 335 talk, what mods if any do you have on your car? I love how your car is built according to your description in your signature line.

what up milehigh.... Yeah, I was bored back when I joined and copied someone else that had their signature like that.

My car is pretty lame at this point, i have the oem aero lip (paint is chipping badly) and the amber reflector delete on the front. I have another mod that I don't like to publisize but it's a very "entry level" mod.

We should get a group to head to bandimere when it opens in the spring, I'm trying to improve on my times from last year, best I could muster was 13.789. Have you had yours at the drag strip?

Oh that was you Forza? Do you live near downtown?

I am absolutely down for some Bandimere action this spring. I barely got out of the 14s while i was there last year, lol. Thinking of doing the HPDE with the RMCBMWCCA this spring as well.

First off, even if your car was bone stock, it is far far far from lame IMHO. Did your other "entry level mod" ive you anymore power? We should definitely hit up Bandimere when it opens in April. The cool spring nights will give us that extra power. Haven't run this car at the track yet. 13.789 for preety much stock is awesome, especially at this altitude and with an xi! Stock 335i's at sea level are puling about the same thing which are lighter and have less drivetrain loss granted they don't have the traction out of the hole like us xi'ers. I have 2 other close friends of mine also have a 335 (i and an xi).

Yeah, the mod did give me more power so not quite stock.

I ran that time in about 50 degree weather, I went back when it was about 80 degrees and couldn't do much better than 14.0xx (can't remember exactly the times)

I'm definitely up for going back, I think it takes about a 4k rpm launch to get the xi off the line with out much drama. I was loosing time rolling out and slipping the clutch at about a 3500 rpm launch. That is where the car can make up some time.

Man, I'm so curious to know what mod you did to your car. What did your car run before you performed your mysterious mod? FYI...Terry is looking for people to test out the JB+ at high altitudes. Would you be interested? I have 2 other friends that may be interested also. I would test it out but am too lazy to take out my JB3 1.
