Default Brake Pad Wear Sensor - 06-28-2016, 05:16 PM

I recently just changed out my brake pads and accidentally broke the brake pad sensor while removing it, so I left it off for now till my new one comes. I was expecting to get the brake light on the cluster but haven't, does the JB4 disable that light from coming on?

I don't think so, I'm on map 7 daily and my brake replacement light just came on recently. It doesn't clear, comes on every time I turn on the car. My rear pads need replacing. Maybe disconnecting the sensor makes the nag go away.

you can just cut the wires and connect them together to complete the circuit if you want the light to go away.

When I did my brakes I bungled the clip for the sensors. The way it looks to me they are inductive. So once the air gap gets tight enough they create voltage and that's what turns the brake service lamp on. So disconnecting them and/or leaving them hang should not turn a lamp on.

I think I paid under $10.00 each at Rock Auto for new ones a month ago.

Didn't come on till I hit the track one weekend, so I plugged in the new one with the wires cut and looped. All is good!

Not sure why the light is not coming on. I'd just replace it anyway though, since it's cheap/easy, could probably do it without removing the wheel.

Also confirming the JB4 does not prevent the brake pad wear indicator warning.
