Default Hawk HPS 5.0 Brake Pad Review - 03-20-2017, 09:03 AM

I needed to change my brake pads so I started researching a better alternative to the stock pads. The stock pads were pretty good with decent initial bite but it definitely puts out a lot of brake dust and starts fading sooner than I'd like them to. I also needed better stopping power now that I'm Pure Stage 2

After reading the limited yet good reviews on the Hawk HPS 5.0, I decided to pull the trigger. The HPS 5.0's are supposed to be in between the HPS and HPS Plus performance wise. There aren't too many reviews on this pads so I figured I would give my opinion to help other forum members out. FYI, I'm still using the stock rotors and brake lines.

Front Part #: HB551B.748 (Paid $100.46 shipped on Amazon and came with two brake sensors)
Rear Part #: HB624B.642 (Paid $76.79 shipped on Amazon and didn't come with a brake sensor)

They have been on my car for several weeks now and I have really enjoyed them. The initial bite is definitely better than stock and gets even better once they warm up. It's a more linear feel which I really like. So far I haven't experienced any brake fade even after multiple heavy spirited driving and doing datalogs. It also has way less brake dust over the stock pads which is a big plus. There is a little bit of squeaky sound at very very low speeds when coming to a stop but it's not consistent. I would highly recommend them for anyone that sees occasional track days and wants better braking power for daily driving.

I just installed the 5.0 pads and zimmerman rotors. After properly bedding them in my thoughts are they are just ok. Normal driving they are fine but any high speed stops or multiple stops they fade.
I'm not sure what the next model up is but I will look into something better.
To be fair I did the front only, so a full set may be a little better. Also my car is a wagon so the extra weight is not helping. As of now they do not squeak at all.

I'm going to try the Hawk Front High Performance Brake Pad Set - Street Race $160 on ECS. HB551R.748

Found them for $117 on Amazon

Any input for rears?? I cant find many.

If anyone is interested in these pads please pm me.
