Default CHP 11-99 Foundation - 01-24-2011, 11:09 AM

CHP 11-99 Foundation "Classic" Lifetime Membership ($2,500)....

Anyone have it? or know of anyone who does?

Any stories to share about getting out of speeding tickets?

Is it really worth it?

Is a quality radar detector a better investment?

yes, but its better if you know CHP around you. get their cards (if they are your friends) that is the best way to go. i know about the sheriff pose, if you have one of those stickers on the back of your car your good to goo! and yes i have heard of some good stories of them letting you go.. it all depends of what kind of ticket it is.

Have it. It works...sometimes. Let's just establish that you do not donate to get out of tickets later. If that is your sole motivation get a radar detector.

Additionally, there are several problems:

1) Fake plates
2) People steal plates
3) People are inherently rude and feel entitled to a free pass after donating. That's not how it works. You donate because it's a good cause, not because you want some silly plate. It's the people with ulterior motives that ruin any possible (again not guaranteed) benefits for those who genuinely wish to help out the families.

My family has donated twice to the foundation. Members should never use their membership status to get out of tickets and more importantly should never piss and moan when it does not get them out of a ticket.

Wow thanks for being cool about it, and without sounding the least bit holier than thou ...

There are numerous articles (search the LA times) about idiots who donate, get a ticket, and then grumble about it.
The foundation was accused of selling get out of jail free cards. They nearly stopped handing out plates at one point.

If you are concerned about whether or not it will get you out of ticket, then move on.

Well you said yourself "it works...sometimes" so when some people get out of tickets and not others I can see why they might share thier opinions about it.

And who are you to question people's motivation for donating and call them idiots? If you think people donate 100% for the moral good ALL the time, you've got a lot to learn.

And because it does work, as you have claimed, the foundation IS selling "get out of jail free cards", whether or not you'd like to believe it.

Nowhere on their site does it say this will help you get out of tickets. Those who share their frustrations when it doesn't are idiotic, moronic, whatever you want to call it. "But officer I have a plate....."

At no point did I imply or suggest that people are moral and good all the time. I stated that the motivation to donate to this foundation should not include the possibility of getting out of a few tickets. It most certainly should not be the primary incentive.

They are not selling anything. They are giving you something in return for your donation. If a side effect is fewer tickets, then great. If it isn't don't go bitching about. Mind you, I am not saying that you would.

I am not sure what your original post is asking for. You can google this to death and find accounts of it working and not working. What more were you hoping for by asking? Opinions? Well you got mine and if you disagree that's completely fine.

A few of my friends have the plates only because they stole them, it saved them from a few speeding tickets but it didnt save them from getting a dui. In my opinion, it works for the most part but if ur doing something really bad(dui, zig zag racing through traffic) then it wont. If you do get one, make sure u get specual screws for the plate, cuz my friends steal those like theyre candy, I have 4 friends with the chp plate and theyre all stolen!!!!
