Default 335i lsd questions - 04-18-2018, 07:02 PM

so far from what I have discovered, I have 3 different options to put an LSD into my 335. Buy a pumpkin/ get it machined. Swap an m3 differential with axels and driveshaft. or the options I'm hoping would work, is buy an older generation 335i bolted diff and install an LSD myself. My question is would my last option even be a possibility? would I be able to buy and 07 bolted diff and install an m sport lsd?

You can Google around and there's a DIY on how to install the LSD yourself but I don't think it's a beginners task. I did the prebuilt pumpkin and shipped my stock one back.

I did the same as above, prebuilt pumpkin and core return, and mine is a bolted 07. Setting up gears is not a simple task and if you aren't intimately familiar with how to set backlash properly, you may be better off leaving it to folks who have the right tools and do it routinely.

Pulling the complete pumpkin and replacing it was pretty easy. Getting that large driveshaft nut backed off completely takes a while, but the process is very straightforward.
