Default Has anyone built their own stage 2 LPFP? - 09-12-2016, 12:14 PM

Hey Guys,

Has anyone done a rebuild of their stock LPFP to turn it into a Stage 2 pump? It doesn't seem like its should be that hard to me, but looking to tap into the infinite knowledge of the forum.

+1 for same question. Seems Steve from Fuel-It made the first upgraded F30 LPFP with a Walbro 450 on a bench just to test a proof of concept and that grew into the line they sell now? Original thread here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24382

Would be cool to know if this is something easy to do on your own if you were so inclined and save a few hundred bucks.

Make sure to use PTFE fuel hose. I used radium engineerings 3/8" fuel hose. you will need 2 of these as you only get a 1 ft piece. I used a brass 3/8" double sided barb to connect 2 1 ft strands. Pretty much once you put it on and test it out, if it doesn't leak then, it won't leak. PTFE doesn't deteriorate, get soft or get kinked...
There is actually quite a lot of things you can mess up. I already got a few PM's asking about how to do it. I'll see if someone wants to do one/ take pics and i can give you instructions/a list of things you'd need.
Oh btw I have a 535i, my venturi is built in, yours is a little different but it's easy to rig up.

Hey what's the actually model name/code of the walbro 450 pump?

In terms of the other hoses and connection - does anyone sell a kit to convert the stock F series pump to the walbro E85?

Dumb question that I'm googling the reasoning/justification now, but would this be beneficial for my 2010 X5M running JB4 with meth, HCP flash, **'s and exhaust? I've upped my FOL from the stock 60 to 80 in order to help with trims, but I don't know if that's more related to LPFP or HPFP. I've read the post in the link provided and they mentioned two different pumps, assuming they're two different flow ratings, but is it better to stay on the low side or high side when doing this mod?

I bought a 3/8 compression fitting to 1/4npt it was stainless steel about $30. Cut the barbs of the walboro 450 and tightened the compression fitting for low clearance and it has been that way for almost a year with no issues. Don't have Venturi hooked up so 15 miles to empty is empty for me .
