Default Ideas for a DIY Custom Intake? - 02-11-2018, 09:36 PM

after reading many threads about the benefits and disadvantages of Stock Airbox vs DCI vs MR. 5 Intake vs Dinan Intake etc, I decided to trash all that and try to create a new concept, I have a 535i so the concept might be completely different for other models, I want to run aluminum intake piping with a y pipe all the way to the front of the radiator right where the BMW Bumper Cowl Hood inserts are, let me know what you think?

CXRacing made one similar to this concept. Check it out here. this is what I was going to do, until I relocated my inlets....

Great, but you asked about thoughts on the pic you posted. Are there any data sheets on that cxracing one posted ? I wouldnt feel comfortable with one 3" to two 2.5" regardless, unless there is data that proves it doesnt choke it.

I believe a 3.5" pipe flows similar (a hair less) to 2) 2.5". So at a minimum I would do a 3.5" y to 2) 2.5" if you have room for it.
Then again, 2 dci and you lose nothing as far as flow is concerned.

or even go with a 4", I like Ryan's setup for the inlets, seems the "better" way to go

Relocated inlets are PROVEN to work as far as flow is concerned.

the kit I have installed now is a RB EVO intlet kit. You have to email rob at rbturbo.com for pricing and availability as they are not available for purchase directly from his site.

For whatever it is worth, I am selling an RB EVO Inlet system with less than 5k miles on it. PM me for details. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

How much you want for this? I may know someone interested!!!

This is the only hotside intake kit I think "I THINK" the 535i will be ok to use without relocating the A/C suction line. Maybe I will make a seperate thread on why I think they will work.
