Default X1 35i modification questions - 05-15-2018, 06:04 AM

Hi everybody.
I'm from Poland, so sorry for my english, it's not perfect xD.

I have some questions about tune my X1 35i from 2013.
What I hove done to my car is:
- FBO
- Mishimoto Intercooler
- custom dow.n.pipe
- JB4 STAGE 2, running whit map2 or map7 when I loaded whit 100 Octane gasoline.

Now, the question is: what can I do to have a more power?
A can purchase maybe a Pure Stage turbo to have a maybe ~450hp?
If I do that, the JB4 still be capable to handle that?
Or maybe I must tune something more, like a upgraded pump?

Couple of days ago I purchase a N20 sensor (3,5 bar), but not installed, I do it when have a time to do this.
It can help me to do bigger bust when I install a bigger turbo, that's wright?

Thx for advise Guys.
Cheers from Poland

You could theoretically do 450whp with Pure Stage 2, some kind of supplemental fueling (port injection E85 and/or meth injection), and JB4. Map 6 allows for custom boost curves; I use map 6 with PS2 but just E30 and maybe 375-400 whp.

By the way I'm pretty sure "FBO" (full bolt on) already includes the next two things in your list.

You might not even need a new turbo to just hit 450, if you like shifting at 5100 rpm. Edit: Nevermind this sentence!

^ you will not hit 450 without a larger turbo period. Your limiting factors are your turbo and your HPFP. If you're ready to take the next step I would look into a larger turbo (Pure or Speedtech) as well as methanol or port injection.

I haven't began modifying my X1 yet so I don't know exactly where the HPFP limit is but I will be moving most of the parts from my 335i over to the X1 later this year.

Ok Guys, thx for the answer's.
Another one: if I don't want to go with meth, is it possible to take a bigger turbo and with my race gasoline (100 Octane) go for maybe ~450hp?

~, yeah. I think both octane and fueling would be close to the limit, and there are concerns if you go lean.

Pure got 450hp with e40 and a lpfp. On their dyno I'm sure. The later hpfps (like in 2013 models) have lower flow than their 2010.

P.S. With 100 AKI, that is. 100 RON, surely not.

It's unfortunate there are two completely different common octane ratings with similar ranges.

More air requires more fuel. I recall people saying they were able to hit about 17 psi on pump gas before their HPFP started to crash. Using a higher octane fuel will just allow you to have cleaner higher timing. If the 100 octane fuel isn't oxygenated you should be able to run the same boost level. Your extra power would come from running a higher timing advance. Someone that is running the PS2 with the newer HPFP will need to chime in on what the limits are. 450 AWHP should be right around the limit of the stock fuel system. It could end up being a little less but I doubt you will be able to get more than 450.

My RWD 335i put down 430 whp at 17.5 psi and about 5 degrees of timing. Since the AWD system will rob some of that power I would think you would land right around 430 whp with 17 psi and 10-15 degrees of timing advance.

Ok.
I know that the PS2 is great option, but it take a while for wait for the package (ocean).
I see some option in Germany Ebay.
Can You Guys can look on it and give me some opinion?

Every on it say that is capable to 450ps, but it is true?

I think, when I have 430 whp on my X1 I will be very happy :D

I don't know. There are too many variables in a turbocharger to know what it's capable of without knowing any of the variables, or having test data on a specific model.

There are many ways to make a good N55 turbo, but the ones that don't require custom fitting have an advantage.

I wouldn't buy a turbo without a lot more user testing. To each their own but I would pass.
