Congratulations Terry!!!
I will be watching close man! Next year I plan to buy either a 997tt or GTR. But if your witchcraft on this platform is anything like your others... This could be a very real option for me!

nice car Terry, I love the carbon roof on the sedan.

have they said anything about an available Competition Package with the new M3/4's?

sorry, I haven't been studying up on the F80/2s as I can't afford one right now.

Congrats Terry! I have mine on order for ED delivery 7/1. It will go next to the ol' N54 loaded with your JB4.

I am looking forward to what you can do with the S55.

Default 2015 M3 Dyno! - 06-16-2014, 10:27 AM

Hey guys,

Was able to get our new 2015 M3 over to the dyno today for a little test and tune action. It has around 100 miles on the clock... Fuel is 91 octane + a can of octane booster to bring octane up to around 93 octane.

To start I did a few baseline runs in 4th and 5th gear. The best of which was 427rw in 5th gear. Boost was around 19.5psi peak, timing around 9 degrees up top, and I was fairly disappointed with the output. I'm not sure what might be holding back power but we'll have to dive in to that as we get further in to the R&D process.

Not satisfied I decided to whip up a Stage1 alpha tune and after some work had boost up to 24psi and power up to a more respectable ~480rw.

Work continues!

Disappointed it's putting Down the advertised crank hp at the wheels? Or does your dyno read high and that's why you expected more?

Disappointed 20psi on this "higher flowing" motor, with 8+ degrees of advance, produces so much less than say RB or Vargas hybrid turbos. But it is what it is. Hitting ~480rw tuned cheered me up a bit.

What do the RB cars make on pure pump gas with no meth at 19 psi? 430-450 whp? Also, I know it is early, but do you think E85 blends are going to work?

Nice Terry!
What kind of IAT were you seeing on the dyno and what do you see on the street?

I've not had a chance to really look at the combustion chamber design on this motor yet so it's difficult to compare timing curves. But RBs at say 17.5psi on 93 octane are good for 450rw or so.

I've got fuel control setup on the tuning but not tested E85 yet. Too early to determine how much fueling capacity is left in it. But it's on my to-do list this week.

To be honest I've not been paying much attention to IATs yet. But around 30 degrees over ambient which seems pretty decent.

This is awesome, right around what I expected it to do. Can't wait till you get some more time to tune it, but 480rwhp in alpha is awesome. Can we say 515rwhp with a solid tune e85 blend?!!?!?

So I asked this question on a post a couple months back, but now that there is some real data, I figured I'd ask it again. How would a car like mine (mods in my description) compare to a stock M3/M4 as far as say a quarter mile run and a 40 roll? Also 480whp off just a tune is definitely something to be happy about!!

Are those dyno sheets reporting crank HP or wheel? I'm kind of surprised the car is pushing the advertised crank HP at the wheels.

Stock E9x M3s (advertised at 414 crank HP) dyno from 330 to 350. FBOs with stage 2 tunes run in the 370s to 390s. This suggests a stock F8x M3 is putting out 50 HP more than a FBO E9x.

That's awesome 480RW!! Woohoo you were 5hp off when you guessed the other day what a stage 1 tune would put it at I believe you said 475. Congrats and can't wait to see the progress on this beast
