Don't have any diagnostics equipment on the car yet but did plug in a scan gauge and it was showing around 21psi of boost up top and 2-3 degrees advance. If these turbos flow similar to RBs that could put power in the 475whp range stock. Can't wait to find out.

So far I like it. It's like driving a pocket size M5. Has the same sounds, DCT nuances, and overall feel. Definitely likes to rev. I was hoping for more displacement of course but if we can squeeze say 530rw out of it with E85 tuning down the road I think I'll be very happy with it. The M5 @ ~670rw is an absolute blast. With a ~4350# vehicle weight it falls around 6.5lb/hp. Now with the M3 at ~3550# with ~530rw this car should be on par. If we can get it up to 530rw...

As far as power output currently, let's compare it with our 2011 N55 Vargas turbo car. That car runs ~21psi peak but ~19psi at higher RPM, and with 7-8 degrees of advance produces around 475rw using E85 and meth.

This engine is the same displacement, a more efficient cylinder head and intercooler system, a more efficient trans, runs around ~20psi peak at higher rpm, and around 3-4 degrees advance.

On paper it seems to me it should fall right around 475rw on 93-94 octane. But until we test it I can only speculate. For all we know it will seriously disappoint at 425rw. But with a $76k sticker price I really hope not!

Just saw one out on the street (first one I saw/heard in person) and that thing shifted REAL fast and sounded about 100x better than in the videos I've seen. Hate to admit this but I was thinking of getting a Macan Turbo but from the looks/sounds of that M, I may just stay BMW.

That would be quite a significantly underrated number for BMW if that's the case! Gonna be pretty bad ass to see!!!

Yea I'll be curious to see what numbers Terry gets. If that really puts out around 465whp after a quoted 420, that would be incredible. Gotta love BMW.

Terry correct me if I'm wrong but isn't there a break-in period where the car does not have full power until about 2K miles?

That is excellent, Terry! What color is that? Alpine or Mineral white? I pick up my Alpine white M3 6MT in Munich on the 23rd. Can't wait, just a week to go. I look forward to hearing more of your initial thoughts. I was guessing 410-420 whp stock based on the trap speeds people are reporting. I will be disappointed if the car is only trapping 118 mph at 475 whp.

Ah not aware trap speeds have been posted. If it's only doing 118mph then probably closer to 425rw. But 3L, 20psi, new valvetronic head, seems like it should be doing much better than that. We'll find out soon enough.

It's also alpine white.

As long as you get this car tuned to mid 500's, I'll be selling my 335i and picking up one of these. I love how it looks and now that it's turbo'd I'm sold. I drive a AW 2010 E90 M now so your M looks like my car on roids and some! I want it lol. I can't wait to see what BMS does with this car. It's going to be insane!

I am also surprised that it is running that much boost. BMW has said repeatedly that the car can run to a maximum of about 18 psi, though usually less, in response to IATs, etc in order to maintain the rated power output regardless of how hot the car or conditions are. Is it hot as hell out there right now?

Those must be some decent sized turbos too if they don't spool until 3200. If it is running 21psi I would be expecting more out of it than 118mph traps...
