Default DME Bench Flash - 09-12-2017, 01:07 AM

Hey all,

Unfortunately, I got one of the DME that needs to be bench flashed so I can flash it directly with MHD. Is there a DIY on how to do this or do dies anyone know of a shop in the SF Bay Area that can do this? What should it cost, ballpark?

I had the Alpina B3 TCU flash done successfully, but I am assuming that just because that designation is diff then DME doesn't mean my DME can be directly flashed, right?

thanks!

I believe to do this yourself requires an alientech cable and software which can cost $10,000+.

I was in the same predicament regarding wanting to unlock my daily driver. I was fortunate enough to find a place in SoCal willing to do it on site.

I think your bet bet may be to reach out to WedgePerformance (he's in OR) and discuss overnighting.

You can always come to us if you are in the Bay Area for DME unlock process. You can find our info on MHD's official website under partners section. You can also reach us at www.N54Exclusive.com

Thanks for replying, yeah I am in the Bay Area peninsula. I remember Darrel talking kudos about you guys.

Unfortunately, I think I will end up just saying suck it up buttercup and ship it to SoCal. Pricing is all over the place here in the Bay Area and it is hard to justify at minimum spending over twice the price.

Yeah sure. I have done couple E92s and 1 E70 so far in the bay area here but I do the most work outside of the bay area tbh. Also as far as I know, SSR charges the same as I do. So I don't know what you meant..

Let me know if you change your mind. SSR is a good choice to go with as well! They are good guys.

Twisted Tuning is $100, plus USPS shipping. I found a few other shops in the $100-$150 range in SoCal, some of which included shipping to and from.

I am sorry if I offended you in any way, it was not my intent, you are the lowest price in the Bay Area and highly spoken of by others.

Just have to look at it from a consumer stand point. This is single service where the end result is exactly the same, regardless of where you go. There is no benefit or feature of one shop over the other, other than convenience. Now if we were talking about custom tuning, performance parts installation, etc then it becomes a whole other ball game.

Yes you are totally right. Also, no I didn't get offended but I was just surprised. Sometimes tho, people should look at it from the service provider/seller point as well. There are very cheap clone tools that you can buy and do this process and also there are real tools which cost thousands. I am not saying all cheaper providers use all these cheap tools but I am not using a clone tool is all I'm trying to say. That is why I am charging what I am charging.

I will have a guide on how to do this up on E90Post this weekend. It will cost you ~$120 for a Chinese KTAG clone and high temperature silicon to reseal the ECU. I did the entire process in my garage. It is very doable as long as you are careful and take your time.
