Ill save you some time. If you want decent boost your going to need supplemental fuel. . Not sure what your goals are, but I would say 93 pump is good for clean 15psi. People will tell you all sort, youll have to base on logs. I pretty much immediately needed more. If your goals are low you can run this or some light meth. N54 N55 are great, but you need boost and fuel. Typically order goes tune, boost, fuel, tune, traction.

My goal is 15psi at 5000+, but I've been using pump E30 (94-95 octane). My reasons for that are keeping torque low to save components, and having a margin of error so I don't have to worry about problems appearing, like detonation and low fuel flow. But it looks like I do have to worry about the last one.

When its working properly, the plan will be to keep upping the boost and log until it goes wrong, and if 16 works I'll dial it back to 15. Fingers crossed.

Keep traction control on

But yep, we all run out of fuel eventually. Biggest downside to this platform right now in my opinion.

I managed to get a look at the actuator and I presume the vac line. It looks suspiciously askew: It's definitely at less than a 45 degree angle from the front face of the actuator within a half inch. No use trying to get my hand down there. Is that angle abnormal, as in is it probably disconnected?
ROUGH sketch:

Traction control, sounds slow.

I'm whining because I did a lot of research before buying a turbo, and the lowest reported max boost with stock fueling was 16 for E N55. Now I don't know.

You shop should have a hand held vacuum pump. You can test the wastegate in under 5 mins from the top to verify it is closing completely. If that checks out remove the intake and hook a boost leak tester up to the turbo Inlet pressurize up to 10-15 psi listen for leaks

That seems to be a big boost leak.
I got my ps2 installed today. Did some pull on map5 to see the difference with out changing nothing beside turbos and I"m over boosting up to 20psi been 16 target,
and slipping on 3rd like hell. Tried map 2 and boost seems normal around 15 but still no traction.

93aki is good for flat 16psi all day. You will get in trouble running 17psi though with hpfp crashing. I have JB4 logs of every possible combination I'd say.

PS2 is FAST even on 16psi. With the BM3 OTS on 17psi flat I just did 8.00sec 100-200kmh. On the second run car misfired so 16psi really is as high as you can safely go.

I will almost guarantee it's an issue with the reference line on the wastegate actuator or solenoid. I have an xdrive as well, and you can reach it without too much effort. I've done it. I think I did it from underneath, I don't remember. But it's doable. The line is either pinched/broken/disconnected. Often times, the rubber gets brittle and won't go back on and stay on. You need to cut half inch off and reconnect.

Hopefully tomorrow I can swing by the shop and take what I've learned.

What's your date of production, aka do you have the newer HPFP? Item number 13518604231. If you have the old DME that can be unlocked electronically, you supposedly have the HPFP that's better than this one.

On F series there are not magical HPFP's that flow a lot more. They are all the same. Like people have said around 16 psi on pump fuel should be doable. If the pump fuel contains 10+ % ethanol you may get issues.

The story was that the E series HPFP had a little higher capacity than F. But the other day I found out the changeover to the new one happened before the E>F transition, and I have the new low capacity one.

I can only get 91 locally without ethanol, so I've been using pump E30. I don't know the base fuel octane but I'm sure it's the worst they could find, 85 or 87, so the end result is 94-95. I can mix 91 with E85, but pump E30 is sooo much easier.

Car will tell you when its had enough so just start with a flat 15psi map and see what the HPFP say to that (log) Testing is the fun bit

Taking it to the mechanic, I relayed the working theory that it was the wastegate actuator vacuum line, and in about a half an hour he'd fixed it and taken a test drive. According to him the approx. 3" line leading to the boost solenoid was loose, so he replaced it. No apparent problem with the direct connection to the wastegate actuator.

Long story short it's already too fast at 11psi and it's for sale now. Not really. :D

It looks like my current limit is 13.5psi. Preliminary, since I did approximate fuel mixing instead of the usual full tank of E30. (Tried to get octane to 93.)

At 14, I think I could feel the timing being pulled, the car deciding to tone things down a bit. Logs seem to reflect it. I don't feel that bad settling for less at the moment, since the car screams at 13 and 13.5. I do have a...striped tiger. I'll do "final" tuning in a week or so, and maybe port injection for pure E85 in a year if I'm bored.

Thanks all for the advice in this thread. Logs here for reference, feel free to comment.
