Default E60 - automatic - wont go into gear - 01-18-2018, 03:18 PM

I have a 2008 535i, awesome condition, all maintenance done etc. Its cold for Dallas, but I ran to store today, was in there 20 minutes or so, and when I went to back out, car wont go into reverse. It automatically goes back to P. Tried Drive - no luck there either. After about an hour of dicking with it, Reverse finally engaged and I was able to back out of parking space, crossed my fingers and put in to drive - it worked - and I limped home. Scanned it with carly and here's what I got for errors - 4F97,4F84,4F82 and 507B.

Any ideas would be helpful! Thank you

what is the description on those codes?
What mods do you have and power level?
Have you had any other trans errors, symptoms, or issues lately?
How many miles on trans?

This was a fix for someone else - it was the mechtronics to transmission seal($20 part). Attached a couple pics, you can see the new improved solid design, as well as the huge crack.

I'm on mobile can't attach pics.

Monitoring sounds like sensors. What happens is solinoids have magnetic ends to pick up metals, such as brass,or steel. Like eccentric rings for abs,the sensors get blocked with contaminates, and shavings. This could be an issue inside the valve body were all the solinoids are, if you have to drop the pan, this would be a first place to start, a thought cleaning, and a fresh filter.

It's the seal between the valve body and the transmission itself. Known issue. BMW has a tech bulliten for it. I've replaced server for customers. Codes very but the symptoms are always the same.

That's some good info, as we need every bit, your mind starts going when it won't go into a gear when you just drove it 10 min ago.

Fixed it, was the mechatronics to transmission seal. Transmission bridge seal. All is good now.
