Default Upgraded oil cooler actually cool better? - 05-02-2018, 07:47 PM

I know it sounds like a silly question, but for almost 1k, would like to know how much cooler oil temps run when driven daily, after a few passes, and after a few laps. Both basically stock and fully tuned. Has anyone come across this data? Maybe someone with and mhd or fb4 and an upgraded oil cooler can share what temps their oil runs at?

Mine run about 220* on average. Usually between 210* and at most 230*. My oil temps actually drop slightly on WOT pulls, while the water temps increase slightly.

Water temps are typically tracking cooler than before, usually around 10* under oil temps.

I've only gotten either hotter than that on a hard charging, uphill mountain run from 5,000 to 10,000 feet.

Get MHD and use their sport cooler settings. I am at 215 - 220 on the stock cooler in any conditions. Unless you're talking about a transmission oil cooler. To my knowledge you cannot see the temp without MHD anyways.

mine used to run 250, low temp stat got it down to 240, big ass ebay oil cooler and lines and it stays at 200 when fully warm on a hot day in houston.

I would NOT buy a 1K oil cooler, thats just nuts. I think I spent 180 but had to modify a mount a shorten a hose. it was for a 335i and I made it fit a 135i.

Bummer. So what did you use? The only thing stopping me from a diy oil cooler setup is figuring out the mount. I just done have the free time to experiment and come up with a solution.

Does ERs louvered guard double as a mounting bracket, and would it be compatible?
