Default JB4 BEF questions - 11-11-2017, 06:33 PM

Planning to get JB4 PUMP BEF this week and have some questions for which I couldn't find clear answers on forum. thanks in advance for your help!
Car 09 335i
a) with PUMP flash and 92 octane fuel which is best map to use map1,2 or 5?

b) If I add 30% E85 do I still need to switch to map5 and let it autotune?

c) do I need to update to latest firmware? I have 32/5//2 and I see there is now G5_ISO_32_10 with flex fuel updates, do I need it or other firmware versions before I flash?

a) Always a good idea to start with Map 1 and log. If things look good you can try Map 5. Usually to run Map 2 you would need high quality fuel and additional bolt ons.

b) Up to ~30% and you can get by with Pump flash, but again, log first and evaluate. Map 2 or 5 may be viable if your fueling looks good.

c) Would definitely upgrade your firmware first. Be sure to read all of the release notes that have happened between your current FW and the one you upgrade to. You may need to change/set some settings to match the current defaults.

With the PUMP BEF loaded the JB4 maps work the same as they do before you add it, only boost levels are more aggressive, since we've made timing, fueling, and VANOS adjustments in the BEF that allow a little more aggressive boost profiles once loaded.

On low grade fuel I tend to prefer map1 for a stock car, or map2 for a modified car. With E30 map2 or map5.

Latest firmware is always a good idea. It's the latest for a reason. But not required and order of loading makes no difference.

Thanks Terry!
so can I directly update to firmware G5_ISO_32_10 from G5_ISO_32_5 or do I need to also get in-between ones as well?
