Default Best coilovers to get for the money? - 12-11-2014, 04:05 PM

Im looking for a set of coilovers to get for my 335. Any of you guys have input on which would be the best choice? As long as they arnt to expensive (under $1,000) im open to pretty much anything. just looking for a slight drop in height and better handling. Ride quality would have to be not much worse than my stock sport suspension already.

Pretty happy with my BC Racing BR coilies. They should be under a grand and are height, dampening and rebound adjustable

I really recommend the kw v1. Through vendors on here you can get them for 1200~. Very easy to adjust ride height by hand, with a nice pre tuned dampening setting. Realistically I find people do not change the dampening settings. If you live in the north these will last longer imo

I would just go for the ST XTA Coilover Kit if you are going to get KW V1's which are the same is the regular ST's except the shock body is made of a different material.

The ST kit is made by KW and similar to V1, as Josh135 stated. Sell for under $1,000, so no brainer. The body is anodized instead of stainless, but who cares on a 2007 car! You can adjust ride height and they will feel a tad firmer than your current set-up. Much faster and controlled rebound, you'll love the difference.

ST XTS are a little more then a grand but have more features and I have heard good things about them. I had the regular ST's for about a year and they weren't that bad. If you are not tracking your car then go for the ST's if you are and still looking for something in that price range maybe a koni/swift combo. I ended up switching because the ST's weren't enough for what I was doing. I ended up going with Ohlins/swift spring combo night and day difference in handling/ride. Hope this helps.

If 6ou live in the north, i do not recommend ST as they are galvonized steel and will rust.

Clear coat would fix that ... I had them in Germany and haven't had any problems with rust...

I bought a set of Fortune Auto 500 custom with M3 rear damper style and swift springs. They look beautiful, very high quality, really happy. They still on the box. I'm getting ready to do a big overhaul on the car. Just need to get a few things sorted out before put it on jack stands.

American made, 5 year warranty, rebuildable on US.

I may be able to get an even better deal on these. They fit 335xi and come in 3 different versions of firmness. 5 year warranty, US made.

Fortune Auto has some nice options with custom springs/rates, valving, US built/serviced.
They were my second choice behind KW. I'm excited to see how you like them once installed.

I installed my KWs and wheels last night. Money well spent on the KWs. The car rides as smooth as it did with the stock suspension but handles the turns nicely now.

Seeing the cars you say you've owned and sold in your signature, why are you skimping for 500-1000 on the suspension on your car?

He's probably an associate cars sales person. He didn't own any of the cars, but the owner probably let him sit in it. Which I am sure the OP considers the same thing as owning it himself... lol

ST XTA coils get my vote. Like others have said, they are just like KW V2. More than happy with them. Found mine the cheapest on topgearsolution for 1200. Adjustable dampening and camber plates.

Someone told me replacing the struts and springs (with replacements or coilovers) is "extremely difficult" on my 2010 E60 535i. I don't see why is would be. ??

Any harder than is was on my E46 convertible? (Which was pretty easy)

Thnx,

Hey guys, just saw these on sale for limited quantities...can't vouch for them, but you can (quickly) do some research on them:
