Default VTT's GC Lite review - 04-20-2017, 08:37 PM

I'll start off by saying the labor involved was intense. 25hrs to install these bad boys and that's on jack stands. The job it's self wasn't to bad just tedious and not much room to breath. The rear inlet sucked btw. No driveability issues besides over boosting. For some reason it will overboost real bad on map 2 and set the check engine light reduce performance. Any other map it will only over boost 2 or 3 psi. The spool on these turbos is phenomenal. I'll have a bef for these soon. For now I have been running the standard maps on jb4. As far as the kit goes I give it a 9 out of 10. The kit I received was missing 1 nut for the manifold. The kit did not come with clamps for the inlets. But I'm not sure if those needed clamps to begin with since the factory inlets did not have clamps either. I bought a couple of clamps anyways and installed them to be sure. Mainly because I did not want to tear back into to that nightmare. Performance wise this kit is amazing. Once I get them tuned I will try to find a awd dyno to get some numbers. Full bolt ons besides *** back exhaust and fuel system. I do have some data logs but I'll only post those if requested.

No problem here is a few runs. I'm still new to data logs a bit so any feedback is welcome.

I just started reading logs recently, but the stuff I usually pay attention to looks good. The only issue I see is the map 2 over boost log. Your trims maxed out, but once you flash the bef, looks like you'll be good as far as that goes. I'll someone else more knowledgeable chime in.

Post only a couple of logs and go WOT 2500 to redline in 3rd gear and hold into 4th for at least a few seconds or as long as you can.

Your fp_l (low pressure fuel pump) is hovering in the 60's and sometimes dropping into the high 50's with relatively low boost. You're fine where you're at now, but if you plan on upping the boost much and/or running e85, you'll need to upgrade to a stage 1 at least. I plan on stage 2 for just FBO, future-proofing, and ease of install vs stage 1 inline pump.

Gotchya. Makes sense. I plan on upgrading the fuel system in the future. I'll have to live with the factory pump for a while. I haven't even looked at the different upgrades that are out there yet for the fuel system. I know about the pi upgrades but I don't want to go that hard. Would be nice to have considering it would keep the valves cleaner 😄

If you go the PI route, you'll need to upgrade the LPFP anyway. I'm looking at the stage 2 bucketless. They're around $400. I run E85 so it'll definitely be a necessity long before upgraded turbos. I'm hoping to hear good things on the longevity of gc lites. They're an impressive setup.

Pulling timing on all cylinders and IAT's are surprisingly high. You've done any maintenance on the car or have you just been modding?

The only maintaince I haven't done is valve cover gasket transmission fluid change. Also the tmap probably needs to be cleaned. It's been walnut shell blasted last week. New plugs new coils New 02 sensors. Upgraded pcv valve. It was also around 86 degrees that day. Also did a lot of driving prior to logs. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Hello nice work , hopefully they dont blow up like other VTT turbos . Most people go with MMP ( Proven ) or Pure Turbos . Numerous people on this forum can say VTT quality is sketchy , and if you run into a problem with the turbos , then the excuses start on VTT side . hopefully not in your case . Nice work BTW

Nice work doing these on your own! Not an easy task. Don't mind the haters on this forum, they are all mad we continue to hold every N54 record with a small set of twins, that is dominating every option on the market including singles. Looking forward to more of your results!

Nice install man, wish I had the time to install my gcs instead of paying. As Tony said, you'll have people complaining about VTT but their numbers speak for themselves. I've had the gcs on my car for about 6k miles now and yes I push them hard. Don't be like other idiots and stomp on it when the oil Temps are 90 degrees. Do oil changes, let the oil heat up, maintain all aspects and you'll be good.

You really do need to spend some money on fueling. As much as it sucks, a lpfp upgrade is essential, you will get into trouble soon with the stock system.

Either way, goodluck and nice job again on the install.

And as others have said, that engine brace lol.

Hey I'm not against MMP, but proven? Where do you get that info from newby?

I have GC's. Reliability was a concern but being that they have the bigger housing these turbos should be working at a lower load.

Hello ,

Search the forums buddy plenty of info !!!!!! @ VTT your customer service is horrible beyond words , your product is sketchy ( always blaming the tune ) when your turbos blow up . What good are records ( your own records ) if you cant provide quality product !!! Plenty of people on this forums and others that can vouch so please dont even start !! You would look alot better admitting you had a problem with some of your turbos and addressing it was fixed / and or working on a solution , than lying to people !!! Thats why people are going with other vendors like ( MMP ) ( Pure Turbos ) because they know what ( Customer Service is ) !! Tony is English your first language ? i have a feeling that its not , thats why you dont understand sometimes and its understanable !!!

Thanks for the props fellas. I really wanted to do single turbo kit mostly for easy maintance and cool factor but I didn't want to give up the low end torque. I actually had the engine supported with a jack stand I just had to roll the motor towards the driver side for more clearance hence the ratchet strap lol. I don't think I'll have reliability issues with the GCs since its all new casting and bigger turbos. You will always have a chance of failures with remanufactured products so that's why I stayed away from stock upgrades. I'll definitely upgrade the lpfp in due time 😀
