Default RB stage 2 turbos getting down! - 05-09-2018, 05:28 PM

Just wanted to share my experience thus far with the RB stage 2 turbos. I installed these on an 08 135i. The installation was easy with no fitment issues. My local tracks are 1/8 mile but this past weekend I was able to attend a 1/4 mile track. I was completely shocked with the outcome (time slip attached). The car is FBO, e45, auto, stage 1 LPFP on a 275/35/18 NT01 tire. I did a 2nd gear launch at 2000 rpm. I strongly believe with a little more fuel and maybe a 2500 rpm launch this car will be a 10 sec car. We shall see!

I've got the exact same tires incoming. What wheels are those on? Any rubbing? Done anything special to get everything to fit? Thanks!

I have them on a pair of 235i wheels. 18x8.5. No fender work done at all and no scrubbing. I normally run them on my apex 18x9.5 with no issues as well.

Cool, are those 9.5 wide Apex wheels +62 or +58 offset? Do you have the NT01s on the front too? If so what size?

Congrats that's hauling , if i may ask at what psi ?

Correct me if i am wrong that's a td03 center section with a bigger 9 blade turbine wheel and a 15t comp wheel, similar to those Hexon rr500's.

Well done tho this is the kind of setup i want stock like spool ,daily drive race car

Yes sir these are actually one of our Beta RB Twos setups (our largest TD03 centersection option). 6 sets were produced starting 10/2017 and we are giving some more soak time with an expected 0% failure rate before going into full production- so if all continues as such this should be in the next few months.

OP reported these results were @22psi so they seem have a bit more room and 10’s definitely are possible, not bad for a sub $2k turbo setup.

Rob

I think I’m ready to chime in here with some more positive results. I have had a beta set on my car since January and although it was slow going with the testing for me due to New England winter weather I am now at a point where I’ve done a good deal of testing and tuning.
At the moment we have approached the limits of the stock T-map on pump gas with MHD and there is plenty left in these turbos.
The N20 sensor goes in next and we are going to find the safe boost limit with these turbos on the stock fuel system then share some logs and dyno results.
I think everyone is in for a treat when the testing is done on the RB two turbos. They spool fast, hit hard and hold boost really nicely on my E61.

Thanks for the feedback sir. We are now about 8 months into beta testing and still no issues thus far. Typically if there were some issues in the builds we would see things crop up by now so that is a good thing, but even yet we are going to give them a bit more time before going into production. We expect we should put them into production around September 2018, give or take a month and pending on current workload. This setup will definitely be a treat- very affordable and great performance and well tested prior to production release.

Thanks,
Rob
