Default *SOLVED* 08 335i builds boost hard, then immediately cuts it..*log attached* - 12-06-2017, 10:41 AM

Hello everyone, just hoping to get some insight on my situation. My car is an 08 335i manual, 54k, FBO+, JB4 + e85 BEF. I've used e60 occasionally for months with this setup and I've had no problems until about 2 months ago, when i noticed i wasn't hitting my boost target. It should target 19.5psi, but was only hitting 16-17psi, even with setting map 6 to target 20psi only for diagnosis. No matter which map i was in, it would boost 2-3 pounds under target. I replaced all vacuum lines and seals/gaskets, and it did the same thing. Then i read on here that the boost solenoids could be going bad. I had a loud whooshing noise under partial throttle anyway, so i went ahead and replaced them. That leads me to the current problem. I reset the adaptive values and test drove the car, and could tell an immediate difference in spool speed and noise, as it spooled much quicker and was quieter. My issue is, in map 2, 6 or 7, it spools HARD to 15psi, then IMMEDIATELY cuts the boost to 10psi as if someone flipped a switch.. Sometimes it'll stay at 15psi, but will not go over. Looking at the jb4 on my laptop, it seems the wastegate adaptation keeps trying to go up high. I haven't been able to log yet because my computer started to die.. Can anyone help me out?

FF is maxed out and WGDC is really high. Have you pressure tested for a boost leak?

Once you resolve that issue, be sure to set your FF back to default before logging or you will overboost.

I'll double check and see if i can get a hold of a pressure tester. I already replaced the main seals, like the cp, ic, all vacuum lines @ 54k.. I know it was under boosting with my old boost solenoids, (54,500) and now it's doing this.. It was at least consistent before. I could hit 17psi.

There’s got to be a leak somewhere then. Pressure test should reveal it rather quickly though.

If it helps, i have a boost oscillation at partial throttle that didn't start until the replacement of the boost solenoids.. Is it possible to log a partial throttle problem?

Alright, i found the problem. The boost solenoids i ordered were defective.. I took apart the old ones and cleaned/inspected them, then lubed the rod with moly lube, reassembled, and now it boosts perfectly! Very fast spool, and it hits slightly above target and backs down like it used to, and no taper.
