Default First JB4 Log Review - 01-12-2018, 11:35 AM

Hello,

Ive had JB4 on my car for about a month now and I love it more and more each day! I intend on data logging every few weeks to once a month to ensure my car is running optimally. I drive a 2013 335is Manual w/ 35k miles. My mods include: JB4, DCI, ECS Chargepipe & BOV, and 20% e85 on 93 octane.

Over the past 2 weeks I have had 2 instances where I was topping the car in 5th/6th gear WOT and the car suddenly felt like it hit a wall. Fans kicked on very high and the car was like a rolling slug. I pulled over and restarted the car and it was like nothing ever happened. I received 2 codes: 29F2 and 29E2. I checked the chargepipe and entire engine bay and nothing was out of place. I found this post which describes the exact same thing and the guy said it has something to do with fuel open loop: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1002296

Im hoping this is a simple JB4 fix and not a dreaded HPFP/Injector replacement in my future.. I have attached my user adjustment panel from the JB4 interface, as well as a 15 minute datalog on the highway consisting of multiple short WOTs (top pic). Also a single 4th and 5th gear "pull" (bottom pic). Thank you for any assistance!

start by setting all settings to default http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10605
enable 6cyl timing logging
disable DTC
Run a log starting in 3rd through 4th - from 2k-6k RPM

looks like you didn't pass 4500rpm in the log you did , stay in it till around 6200 then shift.
IAT's look kinda high especially for this time of year

Thanks for the reply.

All of those settings were never changed, unless its the map 5 auto-tuning doing that. Only setting I ever changed was menu10 to 2k because of 2d2e code. But i'll set them all to the defaults in your link.

Also, today it was 70 degrees out so thats why the IATs were so high lol. Been about 10 degrees all week then today it goes up to 70 outside.

after resetting to default, do a full log and post it see what they say... sometimes you may need to wait a day or so for a response but no biggie.

Logs are a bit short.

If you can let’s do- 3rd gear, WOT, 2k to redline, traction control off. Then post CSV.

Okay guys, the snow is gone and it was finally nice enough out to go and do some logging.

temperature outside was 55 degrees and 41% humidity.
See log attached to original post.

Note: I was not running e85 during this run. Just 93 octane.

Turn on 6 cyl timing

Overall timing does not look great in that log- either add a few gallons of e85 to see if that helps or drop down a map

I thought I did turn on 6 cyl timing? I set it to INA0S because I read somewhere that is for the is models. How will I know if it’s working? I’ll set it to IJE0S and run 20% e85 (2.2 gal) next log.

you will know its (6 cyl logging) working by looking at ign_2, ign_3, ign_4, ign_5, ign_6 in the log it will show a value similar to what ign_1 shows and not just 0 all the way across the log.

Also you may want to update the firmware but that's totally up to you looks like you are on 32_8, Latest is 32_10
