Dude - the FW is where it has always been - in post one

Please try to make a single log with 5-6 pulls in map2 (2000-5000rpm is ok). Terry is trying to fix some tip-in boost oscillation for me and I'd like to see if other also have this issue

No. No change notes. I just tested 7_T3 which I remember being good, but that is behaving similarly.

I updated to ISO_8_T2.

I will post some logs later, but they will be test's only as i am dialing in the TREBILA BEF Tune.

This is about boost control as I see it so the BEF should not influence that. 4-5 pulls in one log is needed to se if boost start oscillating like the picture above.

Any time you're looking at boost vs. target you need to also be looking at WGDC and FF.

For tuning on PWG systems you can control the pid gain, which is P I and D factors scaled together, the FF, and the target itself. Often a lower PID gain improves oscillations

I emailed you logs with both PID 25 and PID 10. The PID 10 is not much better. Maybe I went too low and PID 15 is the sweet spot. Guess I'll be back on the street testing again...

It's one of those things you'd have to dial in. At some point we'll expose the full P, I, and D functions in the tuning interface so you can better dial it in.

Both you and Steve talk about matching FF and WGDC, but I would be inducing overboost by forcing up FF here wouldn't I?

FF is just the prediction of the ultimate WGDC output. Closer is better but I don't think it's an issue here. It seems like spool up mode (where WGDC is sitting at 100% as turbo spools) is cutting out a bit too soon causing the initial dip.

I tightened up spool mode for 3.5bar sensor maps on this test. See if its better or worse. If there is something there, I'll make it user adjustable like we have for the JB4 N54 single turbo firmware.

First thing, when cutting the diode should cut it from both sides and remove it or its ok to cut one side and leave it?!

The second question is why is the lp_fp and water temp became 0 and there not showing any thing after cutting the diode?!

Terry

It was only running PID=10 that initial spool was not enough. PID=25 spool looks ok I think.
As said, I dont care much about a bit of tip in overboost as throttle takes care of that. It is the dip after wards that can sometimes be felt as loss of power.

ISO_9:

1) Redesigned logging engine for much faster sampling of all CANbus channels. Normal speed logging is around 10hz for all CANbus channels now, and slow speed logging remains an option for cars with older software and drops sampling down to around 6hz.

Terry, does this new firmware mean the slower CANbus guys may have better luck with Map 5 adapting? Right now I don't use map 5 because, as you've discussed with me, a possibility is the speed is too slow for the JB4 to adapt properly. Thank you
