Terry, was lagfix increased on the other lagfix maps or map 7 only? Also, I'm assuming that the fuel pressure boost <2.5krpm is applicable to all maps?

Fuel pressure changes are on all maps, lagfix was only changed on map 7.

you can run a map that is too strong and it may not limp.
you could just run SLOWER with a higher map so u need to test.

Lots of issues. Long term concern, compressor life at the high RPMs it takes to sustain boost levels at altitude. Short term concern, knock retard on your 91 octane. So map 2/3 is probably best.

Went from 8D3 to 8D4 along with my BMS tuning gauge today. Only thing I noticed is my BMS DCIs are MUCH louder now. I suppose this is a good thing... means more boost I guess.
It's too damp outside to get a good butt dyno reading, (rained for 3 days straight in NYC) but the DCI noise is much more pronounced on 8D4.

I am not sure if i missed it, im sure i did.
What are the direct signs if you are running a map that is just too high on your car. Limp? CEL?
Other then loss of power running too much boost for your octane/mods, will you get a cEL or a limp?
Thanks

FATS test maybe???
per scalbert: do a 3rd gear pull starting at 3000 rpm, when you hit 3,500 rpm note the time it takes to get to 6,500 rpm.
the shorter the time elapsed, the more added power you have.
so use a lower map as a FATS baseline, work your way up in maps doing FATS test to see if u r running faster.
note when doing a pull DO NOT hit the tranny kickdown on the 6AT.
cheers

if this is a burner question, better to put it in the burner thread.

What is this methanol you speak of?
I gotta look into that, Im sick of paying $9/gal for 100 octane just to get the pump gas to go to 93 octane.

I would start with map 2 or 3 and keep in touch with me via email to see how that works. At elevation with lower octane there are a lot of variables in play.

It's been improved, may still be more work to do on it. The issue is there to a degree unmodified so completely killing it will take some time.

i am at 8,500 feet and with 50% methanol and 50% distilled water being sprayed throttle body: my car runs MUCH faster with it.
methanol will cool your intake charge making our high altitude (thin) air much denser.
also methanol will give you race gas octane.

05-07-2009, 12:48 PM
Terry,
I was finally able to get home after several weeks..... I got to test your newest 8D here in Germany. Man this is really the best one so far. I have only been rolling with map 3 but it's really powerful. I hear the turbos now when parked and revving. I swear I did not hear that before.
Thanks for your work.
can I test map 5 and 7 without upgrades or should I wait for my intake and maybe my dp's
