Default E60X KW V3 on E61 - 12-28-2015, 07:19 AM

I just picked up brand new OEM M-sport nose, sides and rear for my E61 as well as a set of 20" style 128 wheels and KW v3 from a guy that was collecting parts to install on his E60 x-drive but he ended up trading the car in.
I'm selling the M-sport rear bumper cover since it won't fit the wagon but I want to use the KWs. I know the fronts are the same and I'm wondering if the rear shocks with the spring removed would work or if in need to order the rear shocks from KW.
If someone with V3s on there E61 could snap a pic or give me the part number off the shock body that would be helpful. I also would like to see what they include for the rear leveling sensor. Hopefully it's just a bracket that I can fab up myself.

So I did a little searching and it seems hard to find anyone with KW v3s on an E61. I decided to measure the shock bodies in the slim chance that I could remove the springs and use the E60 KW shock with the airbags. I figured with the amount of valving adjustment the KWs have that I could get them dialed in if they were dimensional the same. As I figured they are different. The E61 shocks are longer then the KW shocks. Otherwise they would bolt up and maybe the shorter shock body is correct for a lower car but I don't want to take any chances.

I ended up calling KW and they confirmed that the fronts are the same as an E60 then gave me the part numbers I would need for the rears. I'm going to post them up so that if anyone with an E61 ever gets a killer deal on a set of E60 KW v3s in the future they know what parts they need to use them and retain the air ride.

KW V3 E61 rear
Shocks: P/N 35320414
Adjustable leveling arms: P/N 68510086

I would still be interested in knowing the length of the KW rear shocks for an E61 if anyone wants to get me that measurement.

Just talk with Evan, ucsbwsr
I know many other e61s w KW V3s. Fronts are the same. Rears are shock only and an arm to set ride height for air bags.
I have a set of ICS coil overs I am about to install on our e61.

I've talked to Evan and he's going to measure his rears for me.
Did your ISCs come with the replacement rear leveling arms?
ISC is local to me so maybe I can source the arms from them.

They should have them as they do offer a kit with them.
I went full coil over though, so removing the air suspension completely.

Everything I have read on ISC is in regards to the coilover swap in the rear on E61. I haven't heard of anyone using an offering from them that retains the air. I guess I'll call them Monday to see if they have a setup to retain the air.

I just ordered H&R front springs for my 2010 535i xdrive wagon. Would it be possible to use the KW leveling arms with H&R springs to lower the rear?

Just to correct this old thread, the ISC did not work out at all and I dug deep in the wallet and got KW V3.
However, for e61 that means all you get in the rear is new shocks. I set the rear ride height with INPA. Really no need to mess with arm changes for that. The rear airbags are sw controlled.
I believe lowering the rear makes it a bit stiffer, so on e61 the main issue is the fronts which are way too soft. Cause nose diving in corners. Doing front coilovers and lowering rear to match will probably get you fairly close to a full KW v3 overhaul. That's my hunch.

I agree...Thanks! Makes sense. The only problem is I don't have INPA to take care of the airbags.

Would you please post a link where I can buy everything that is needed for INPA.

Thank YOU!!!

That would be great!! I live in Westchester. I appreciate that.

I just ordered JB4, DCI, Wagner Intercooler, ER CP w/bov, and AR design *********.

Once I install everything I will get in touch.

You live in Stamford?! I live in Norwalk, CT and need SERIOUS help with my inpa set up/like throwing it away and starting over. I code with consumer Carly stuff which is cool, but can't do injectors or the bags in my stage 2 E61. I cannot believe you live five miles from me! Please let me know what you could do and what I would owe you. Thank you very much!

I am in Darien actually. Can code your injectors and set airbags for ride height.
Can also send you the sw for coding, including Ediabas.
