Default Opinions on quality of Forgestar F14 wheels - 10-24-2012, 10:51 PM

I've been doing some research on getting a new set of wheels.

I like the price point of the Forgestar F14 wheels, but am uncertain about their quality for track racing.

My perf shop has also been telling me to be wary of them as they've had 2 of their clients with rims that just wouldn't balance. Not quite the quality I'm looking for in a wheel, especially if I'm tearing down a straight at 120+mph.

The name of the company is "forgestar" and their wheels aren't even really forged... I wouldn't put them on my car if someone gave them to me for free.

I have Forgestar CF5's.

F14s are VERY common on other plaforms because they are in fatc, nearly indestructable. I have yet to hear of someone bending or cracking one, myself included. The F14s are i believe their premier design as they are very light, especially for the sizes.

now, as for balancing, yea, they are very hard to balance, ive been to a few highly established shops and all have issues balancing them. They get close, very close, but to the highly acute enthusiast, its still there. I believe its only ACTUALLY noticable above 120 or so, for DD and reg highway use, you would never notice it.

I had F14's on my last Porsche, super light weight and tough. Great wheels and great price. Finish on them was way stronger than the last OZ's I had. I'm a fan of Forgestar.

Hi,

I have a set of F14's that were installed two weeks ago.
"aren't even really forged" -> It depends on if you call rotary forged or spun, forged or not?

I like the set I have.
Fit and finish was great. No issues getting them balanced.
They fit on the hubs nice and tight like a hub-centric wheel should.

YMMV, but I would buy them again.
