Default JB3 1.3 beta 8D_REV4 - 05-01-2009, 04:06 PM

Hey guys,

This is the final 1.3 version!

Map switching directions:

Insert keyfob and press start button to turn ignition on (lights on dash, but engine not running). Press and hold the gas pedal down to the floor for 4 or more seconds, and then release pedal. This puts the JB3 in to listen mode. If you start the engine at this point you will be on map 0. For performance maps press the gas pedal to the floor and quickly release one time for each map you would like to select. For example for map 3 press and release the gas 3 times, and start the engine. Your map setting will be saved until changed. If you forget what map you are on, turn engine off and reset the map selection. With new installs or when burning a chip map 3 is always selected by default. So you only need to pay attention to this guide if you would like to disable the JB3 or change maps.

JB3 v1.3
BETA_8D_REV4 Map Guide

Map 0:
-- Disables JB3, all signals pass through

Map 1:
-- Low boost map, boost levels of 11-13psi depending on mods and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 91 octane RM2 or higher required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 2:
-- Performance map, boost levels of 12-14psi depending on mods and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 91 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 3:
-- Identical to map 2 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 4:
-- Hotter Performance map, boost levels of 13-15psi depending on mods
and weather
-- Self adapts to modifications like intake, downpipes, exhaust, etc
-- 93 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.

Map 5:
-- Identical to map 4 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 6:
-- Designed to optimize bolt on performance
-- 93 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Richer midrange air/fuel ratios to sustain additional torque
-- May trigger hidden tuner detection codes. Purchase a Bavarian
Technic cable from BMS to scan for and delete any hidden codes before service.

Map 7:
-- Identical to map 6 with additional low end response (aka lagfix)

Map 8:
-- Race map
-- 97 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Modifications like intake, downpipes, and intercooler strongly suggested
-- Lagfix enabled
-- May trigger tuner detection codes

Map 9:
-- More aggressive race map
-- 100 octane RM2 or greater required. The higher the octane, the more power.
-- Intake, downpipes, and intercooler required
-- Lagfix enabled
-- May trigger tuner detection codes

Map 10-14 (A-D):
-- For use with modified JB3 boards only

Map 15 (F):
-- For use with tuning gauge only

Tuning gauge parameters for those of you with the tuning gauge. Remember these settings only take effect when you are on map 15(F).

LB: Base boost level. Note: Map 6 is set to 11.
HP: Additional boost above 4500rpm. Added on top of LB. Note: Map 7 is set to 5.
AF: Air/fuel ratio. 0=stock levels, F=max rich. Note: Maps 6+ are set to F, 1-5 are set to 1.
PD: Pedal Input / Boost Gain. Higher = faster boost build up, more chance for overshoot. Note: All maps set to 6.
SD: Solenoid prespool (lagfix). Higher = more prespool, more chance for overshoot. Note: Map 7 is set to 6, map 6 set to 0.
AD: Air intake temperature boost decay. Higher = more decay. Note: Map 7 is set to 8. Race maps set to 0.
